The course intends to inform the students about, and to sensibilize them towards, selected (theoretical and practical) aspects of the morphological, syntactic and textlinguistic analysis of the Italian contemporary language, and to enable them to deal with a specific linguistic topic on the basis of scientific methods (oral presentation).

The course focusses on the linguistic subfields of morphology, syntax and textlinguistics (both constitutive phenomena of textual structure in general and of different text genres in specific). The introductory lessons provide an overview of general morphological, syntactic and textlinguistic concepts. The course refers primarily to the standard Italian language, with possible considerations of pragmatic aspects or traits of the spoken language. A detailed program will be handed out at the beginning of the course.

• Introductory part: The first lessons are intended for the introduction to the course topics on the part of the professor; mainly ex-cathedra teaching, with discussions, exercises and group work; various e-learning activities and discussions on the OLAT online platform.

• Oral presentations on the part of the students: In the lessons following the introductory part, students will give their presentations dealing with selected topics; individual or group work, always with discussion and preferably also with examples and specific exercises.

• Autonomous reading of the papers of the "small reading list" (Leseliste) of this course (see https://www.uibk.ac.at/romanistik/studium/lehramtsstudien/ll_it_ling_la15.pdf).

Oral presentation, final exam, active participation during the lessons, homework and participation in the discussions on the OLAT online platform.

The essential books for the course are in large part available in the semestral "apparatus" (shelfs nr. 6 and 7) in the library on the basement floor of the "Bruno-Sander-Haus" building. Further bibliographic information will be provided during the lessons. All photocopies handed out by the professor and some additional material will be provided also on the OLAT online platform.

The prerequisites necessary for participation in the course are as follows:

• For students of "Lehramt" (Teacher Training Program) of the new curriculum (2015)as well as for BA students (curricula of 2009 and 2015), participation in the course is permitted only after having positively completed the courses of module 13 ("VU Grammatische Analyse" and "VU Einführung in die italienische Linguistik").

This course can be accredited for the course "LINGUISTIC TEXT ANALYSIS" (according to the "old" Bachelor curriculum [2009]).
