After having positively completed the course, the students are sensibilized towards the variation in the different areas of the Italian language. In particular, the following phenomena of the variation will be examined more closely: the diamesian variation (differences between spoken and written language), the diaphasic variation (differences of the registers depending on the communication situation) as well as the diastratic variation (the socially conditioned variation).

In particular, phonetic, morphological, lexical and syntactic peculiarities of the different varieties are to be shown, whereby space is also provided for the pragmatic variation.

The course is divided into two sections. In the first, the professor will give a general introduction to the topic, with specific language material also being analyzed. The second part is dedicated to the oral presentations by the students.

Oral presentation; final exam; active participation during the lessons, participation in discussions

The essential books for the course are in large part available in the semestral "apparatus" (shelf nr. 7) in the library on the basement floor of the "Bruno-Sander-Haus" building. Further bibliographic information will be provided during the lessons. All photocopies handed out by the professor and some additional material will be provided also on the OLAT online platform.
