Participants should be able to solve standard problems in Quantum Optics.
Quantum description of light (quantization of the EM field, Wigner function, Gaussian vs. Non-Gaussian states, etc.), Atom interacting with classical light (two and three-level atoms), Atom interacting with quantized light (Jaynes-Cummings model, Cavity QED, etc.), Decoherence and Noise (Master equations, Langevin equations, etc.), Applications (laser cooling, quantum information processing, etc.).
Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants) and a single examination at the end of the course.
Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"
Will be discussed in the first lesson.
