The students will (1) deepen their knowledge of the earth radiation budget and anthropogenic climate change, (2) learn how to publish data, methods and results for others to use and reproduce and (3) to communicate with the public.

The lecture is based on three pillars: Pillar 1 deals with state-of-the-art methods to share scientific data, methods (including model codes) and derived results. Pillar 2 deals with communication in natural sciences which requires both valid statements and appropriate language. Pillar 1 and 2 will be integrated in Pillar 3, the processing of an up-to-date research question. In this first workshop, the open research question is the impact of artificial snow making on the earth radiation and energy budget. The question will be addressed for a case study‑site including radiation measurements, estimates of CO2 emissions associated with artificial snowmaking and sensitivity analysis of impact factors.
