Graduates should acquire further knowledge in addition to the contents of the compulsory modules (2) and the elective modules (3) out of the fields of Mathematics or Computer Science or further knowledge in one or more fields of Physics.

Complexity in physical systems; modell construction; reduction of complexity; the art of approximation; use of symmetries and conservation; dimensional analysis; Buckingham theorem; scaling laws; probability and estimates; "back of the envelope" estimates in physics and technology; etc.

Course with homework assignments and onw blackboard presentations of the participants (combined oral and written assessment)
