The students know how a contract of employment is concluded and which rights and obligations result from it,

• what types of labour agreements there are,
• what kind of legal protection laws are adopted and which category of employees deserve special protection,
• the significance of gender in the principle of equal treatment in the workplace,
• how employment contracts are dissolved and which legal consequences it entails,
• who represents the interests of the workforce at a given company,
• who collectively bargains the working conditions of employees,
• what different kinds of social security schemes there are in Austria.

The students are able to check their own contracts of employment for possible or impossible violations and are enabled to calculate the appropriate remuneration.

Practise-oriented insights into labour- and social law.

In the introductory phase the contents will be presented by the professor and discussed with all students.
Subsequently the students decide which topic they will be focusing on in their oral presentation.
Special attention will be paid to current developments.
Personal requests concerning labour law can also be dealt with.

Oral presentation. The course attendance of a minium of 80% is compulsory.

Students' individual selection according to the topics chosen.

Ranking of registration:
Students will be ranked according to semesters, higher ranked semesters are preferred. In case the decision has to be made between two students with the same amount of semesters, the one with more ECTS is preferred.
