Through independent self-study students acquire a deeper understanding of the relations between theory and empirical, qualitative research in the field of cultural sociology and in the field of specialization covered in the course.

This course covers the following themes: racism, gender attitudes, welfare attitudes, populism and post-modern values.

Comparative analysis, historical sociology, basic statistics

Students will make one oral presentation and then write a research paper.

Students can choose their own literature for their oral presentations and research papers, but the will reseive a list with recommended readings.
