Introduction to Media Studies

The course will introduce to Media Studies with a focus on Film Studies
Central topics of the course will be Media changes, especially Film history and theory. We will treat european silent cinema, serials, avantgarde cinema; film and war, Neorealism, Nouvelle Vague.
Presentation by the course instructor, reading and interpretation of theoretical texts in class
Everyone has to visualize films for the final exam; There is also a film anthology for the course, available on OLAT (Link Learning Resouces) anmelden sollten: https://lms.uibk.ac.at/olat/dmz/.
There is no script of the course. Learning how to take notes, to excerpt and to give a résumé are a integral part of student's activity.
