Learning Outcome:

To learn to analyze literary texts with the help of critical studies and of literary history; to make an oral presentation and a written text on the themes treated during the course.

Contents:

Introduction in “Neoclassical” literature

V. Monti’s Poetry

The personality of Ugo Foscolo and his relationship with napoleon

Analysis of the main literary works written by Ugo Foscolo

Methods:

Reading and analysis of literary texts. Research starting from text analysis in order to reconstruct the author’s style and the literary current he belongs to.

Assessment:

1. Oral presentation on a particular theme (Referat) 2. Written exam at the end of the semester (Abschlusstest) 3. Written essay on a certain theme (Proseminararbeit) NB.: The list of the subjects will be published.
