Acquisition of the skill, to formulate a suitable question on a topic in Contemporary History after the research discussion. ability to analyse a topic supported by sources; ability to present the research results in an appropriate way with regards to contents and form; skill to critically reflect on the relevance and the methods of own’s own work.

 

The overall seminar topic this semester is the destruction of cultural heritage during wars and military conflicts in the 20th century. Students write a seminar-paper of about 25 pages on a selected topic within the general seminar theme; intensive research-based and topic-related work with sources; discussion in relation to secondary literature and current discussions in research; interactive learning process (presentations, discussions, written papers etc.).

Lecture, discussion, required reading 

Regular attendance, active participation in discussions, required readings, oral presentation, written paper.

A full reading list will be provided at the start of the course.

Two positively graduated modules of choice modules 1 to 6.

Online-enrollment required, starting on Sept. 1st, 2018!
