Learning outcomes:

·         researching learning – recognise the importance of a research-based attitude for professional development and dealing with challenging situations at school.

Lesson observations in at least four teaching units, pre and post discussion on the classroom visits; independent teaching and team teaching – a minimum of five teaching units, planning and carrying out a research project.

Course Content University component:

·         Preparation and monitoring of the school placement;

·          lesson simulations;

·         theory-guided analysis and reflection of teaching simulations and of placement experience;

·         Moderation of analytical discussions;

·         qualitative educational research: introduction, research methods and methods of data collection and analysis, planning a research project.

Supervised by trained teachers in a placement at an AHS or B(M)HS in Tirol, Vorarlberg or South Tirol.

Teaching University component:

Reading, lectures, discussions, presentations, lesson simulations and video analysis, case studies and collegial consultation, partner and group work, project work, landscape of learning, reflective writing.

Each part counts towards the assessment. Evaluation is either a pass or fail for this component. A prerequisite for the successful completion of the course is confirmation from the placement supervisor in the placement documentation.

·         Within pedagogical education: Completion or concurrent attendance in BK2;

·         In subject didactic education: ensure full completion of the courses referred to in the specific parts of the curriculum, three to four semester credit hours, depending on the selected subjects – a basic educational introduction to the topics of "Curriculum with objectives and content", "lesson planning and preparation", "teaching models, teaching methods and social forms of teaching", "teaching and teaching methods", "Media" and "Performance assessment".
