Learning Outcome:

students learn how to describe basic phenomena of historical linguistics; they learn to use the necessary tools for reconstruction in a methodologically appropriate way.

Contents:

discussion of various case scenarios and scientific work on historical linguistics with a focus on language change and reconstruction.

Methods:

contents are oriented on the Vorlesung. Reactivation of knowledge through summaries and explanations by the seminar teacher as well as by student presentations; discussion of case scenarios and tasks in small groups or in the plenum

Assessment:

active participation throughout the semester, presentations and written work on small tasks
