Students are reflecting in a cultural-analysis perspective with positions on "living-history" in museums.

Students get to know current challenges of open-air-museums and know about innovative practices on new themes (e.g. migration, consumer culture, gender) in recent exhibition work.

Students know about the complex field of exhibiting and curating everyday-life-themes in museums and reflect on a "museums objects".

Open-air-museums are highly attractive for visitors and belong to the most popular museum types. They are genuinly anthropological/european-ethnological regarding their history and epistemology. Being museums dealing with the maintenance, die research and the exhibition of rural living and working, they are in dynamics of different tasks and affordances. On the one hand, they are popular places for visitors, on the other hand, they have a scientific aim with collecting and researching material culture. We do look at recent challenges of open-air-museums, as well as on actual practices of exhibitions in this specific type of a cultural-museum.

During the course: preparation of the scientific texts, active participation and engagement during discussions. Presentation on a focus theme in one of the course-lessons ("Referat").

Writing of a "Proseminar-Arbeit" (22'000-26'000 characters).
