Learning Outcome:

In this course, a combination of lectures and exercises, students learn the basics of physical chemistry by working on practical and application-oriented examples as well as tasks with a special focus towards teaching. They understand the contents of the lectures and can reproduce them. They have acquired the skill to independently develop similar content. They are able to apply the most important concepts of physical chemistry adapted to the situation at hand.

Contents:

Chemical formal kinetics (1st and 2nd order), Maxwell's velocity distribution, elements of kinetic gas theory, activation energies / catalysis; Nernst equation, electrochemical cells, electrolysis

Particular attention is paid to the application of the principles to important everyday and technical processes.
