The main goal of the lecture is the introduction of basic principles of Organic Chemistry. The focus lies on natural products (e.g. sugars, aminoa cids, vitamins/cofactors and nucleosides/nucleotides), their properties and thier reactivities.

General introduction/basic concepts in Organic Chemistry (Hybridsation, mesomerism, isomerism, chemical formulas)

Basic principles of organic reactions (nucleophiles, electrophile, acid/bases, substituent effects, reactive intermediates: carbocations, - anions, radicals)

Properties and reactivities of organic compounds

Alkanes

Alkenes, Alkines

Aromats

Halogenated hydrocarbons

Alcohols

Phenols

Amines

Carbonyls

Carbonic acids and derivatives

Heterocycles

Stereochemistry

Lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
