winter semester 2018/2019 | Last update: 30.01.2019 | Place course on memo listUnderstanding of diagnostic procedures in neuropsychology (process-oriented diagnosis, standard tests). Students should know different diagnostic methods and should be able to apply them in clinical situations.
In this seminar we will discuss the process from a diagnostic question to the neuropsychological report. We will discuss the potentials, limitations and problems in the use of neuropsychological tests. Different assessment tools are presented including neuropsychological screenings, standardised tests as well as experimental methods. Diagnostic procedures for the assessment of frequent neuropsychological disorders (e.g., memory, attention, language) will be discussed. In practical exercises we will evaluate the characteristics of neuropsychological assessment and the difficulties in the interpretation of neuropsychological data. After completing the seminar participants should have a basic knowledge of the diagnostic procedures used in neuropsychology . They should know some test procedures in more detail and should be able to evaluate them critically. Participants should know frequent problems occurring in neuropsychological assessment.
