The aim of this reading course is to enable students to read classical philosophical texts in a philosophical way.

We will read and discuss Thomas Aquinas' teaching on human happiness as he explores it in the Summa Theologiae I-II, 1-5. The following questions will be discussed: Is there a last aim of human action? Where does happiness consist in? What is the place of pleasure in happiness? Does one need friends in order to be happy?

Reading and discussion of texts.
