Knowledge of the Chruch’s teaching about herself and its significance for contemporary problems.

This lecture offers a concise depiction of the church’s beliefs about herself and the effects of the divine spirit and divine grace in the world. Departing from the current experience of a “dying church” in central Europe, a historical overview of the development of ecclesial structures and their theological grounding will serve to ground a systematic view of the church's self-understanding, especially the church’s assessment of herself as a sacrament shall be discussed in the context of the world as a global village; questions of the dogmatic relevance of the church as an institution and the office within the church, but also of sin in the church and the church’s perfection in heaven will be analyzed.

Lecture and discussion.
