The main focus of this course is the micro-foundation of contemporary research in environmental economics. Participants will classify and discuss major strands of literature on microeconomic methods within environmental economics. Particular emphasis is laid on formal theoretical modeling. At the end of the course participants should also have identified current research gaps in specific fields that potentially lend themselves to own future research.

Classification of theoretical approaches in contemporary environmental economics; discussion and contextualization of selected contributions with larger impact; presentation and further conceptualization of own research ideas and work-in-progress; 

Presentations and independent exercises on based on selected literature. Particular focus lies on the conceptual and formal-theoretical contributions to the literature. Empirical contributions and papers from the realm of policy advisory will be used to complement the overview.

Assessment according to own contributions and active participation within the scientific discourse.

Continuous participation is required.
