Reflection of the mediality of literature and film. Learning how to analyse media in its media specific structures. Reflection of the cultural impact of special media contents.

It is easy to misuse collective fears for political purposes. But how do collective fear arise? And how do mass media contribute to the emergence of fear? We will deal with the different modes of different media (literature, film, series) and ask how they thematize and evoke fear. At first we will deal with theories from narratology and semiotics. Then we will discuss the social effects of collective fear generated by fiction in different media.
