summer semester 2019 | Last update: 29.05.2019 | Place course on memo listThis subject provides insights into a chosen special topic of sport sciences, its relevance for society and health and includes the discussion of current research findings.
The lecture introduces the topic of "doping" in elite and amateur sport. Students will receive insights in the history and development of doping as well as information about substances and methods, its effects and side effects. A further topic will be substance abuse in amateur sport as well as the risk of nutritional supplements. Additionally, an interdisciplinary perspective will provide basic information about social science research in doping prevention including predictors, risk- and protective factors for doping behavior and -susceptibility.
The students will achieve the neccessary skills through:
- active participation in class
- studying the provided primary and secondary literature
- interactive discussions in class
Written exam: 100%
