A deeper understanding of the principles of testing and assessment of foreign languages, serving as a basis for good language test construction and assessment.

Deepened understanding of the principles, basics and theories of testing and assessment of foreign languages; methods for testing and assessing language abilities and linguistic competences in foreign language teaching; deepened understanding of the CEFR; insights into language testing research; task analysis and item moderation; insights into statistical analyses for item- and test modification.

Successful completion of Compulsory Module 2 Bachelor's Programme Secondary School Teacher Training (General Education) Subject: English, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish.

This course is part of Compulsory Module 3 (“Evaluation of Modern Language Competences”) Bachelor's Programme Secondary School Teacher Training (General Education) Subject: English, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish; it is exclusively aimed at students of two foreign languages, is to be used as a compensation for the "Introduction to Testing and Assessing in Teaching Foreign Languages" ("Einführung in das Testen und Bewerten im Fremdsprachenunterricht") and can be attended already in the same semester. The admission to the course follows the conditions of admission (for information please consult the IMoF website: http://www.uibk.ac.at/imof/lehre.html).
