Broadening and deepening of general knowledge by dealing with exemplary topics, i.e. societies and languages of the Middle East and the Mediterranean as well as their interactions.
Unpublished royal inscription fragments from the Louvre will be examined in their Old Persian, Elamite and Babylonian versions in an attempt to reconstruct the original text. The lecture aims to show the cultural interdependencies of Achaemenid royal inscriptions and their Assyrian and Babylonian precursors.
