Knowledge of the specific forms of literary criticism with particular emphasis on Comparative Literature. Overview of the research fields and methods of literary studies, i.e. Comparative Literature.

The course provides an introduction to Literary Studies. Participants will acquire basic knowledge in working techniques (reading, extracting, research, writing, presentation) and will get an overview of issues and research fields of Comparative Literature, especially intertextuality, translation, world literature and theory.

Lecture, discussions, oral presentations, group work, short papers.

Regular attendance, active participation during class, assignments, presentation, portfolio, final exam.

Will be announced at the beginning of the course.
