The students get an overview of the relevant concepts, theories and methods of historical network analysis and can use the newly acquired skills for their own research topics. 

Networks are booming. In the scientific as well as in the everyday context, an increasing trend towards the use of the network concept can be observed in recent years. Networks also found their way into historical research through the interest of historians in relationships, actor constellations and action potentials through social networking. The seminar offers an introduction to the basic concepts of Historical Network Analysis and illustrates these with concrete examples.

Introduction into the basics of Historical Network Analysis; discussion of application examples; practical exercises; oral and written presentations.

Continuous assessment, regular and active participation in discussions, participation in the workshop, oral and written contributions.
