726252 Mechanism of Organic Reactions
summer semester 2019 | Last update: 31.07.2019 | Place course on memo listThe students acquire advanced skills pertaining the reactivity of organic compounds with a special focus on modern synthetic research areas. The students will be introduced to the analysis of reaction pathways and will be able to apply modern concepts to synthetic planning (from simple chemical compounds to complex natural products).
Fundamental mechanistic aspects and methods for the determination of reaction mechanisms (isotope effects, NMR, DFT, etc.), role of the medium, molecular activation, stepwise versus synchronous reactions, addition reactions, eliminations, pericyclic reactions, rearrangements and fragmentations, photochemistry, examples from the literature
Lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.
Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"
Will be discussed in the first lesson.
