Basic knowledge on plant analysis based on morphological and anatomical as well as microchemical methods and its application on the identification and quality assessment of plants and medicinal herbs.
Morphological and anatomical characteristics of medicinal plants, identification of cellular structures (microscopy), tissue functions, and morphological organization of higher plants; application of the acquired knowledge for the determination of plant taxa. Examination of dried plants using macroscopic, microscopic, organoleptic, and micro-chemical methods, analyses according to the current European Pharmacopoeia, identification of adulterations and mix-ups, identification of particular medicinal plants as well as mixtures of herbals (cut and powdered).
