The aim of this course is to give the participants skills to address major questions concerning water infrastructure management under special consideration of an alpine environment. Self-contained problem identification and the constructive planning up to technical pre-project are also major contents of this course. In addition, skills to estimate relevant parameters as well as developing, comparing and evaluate planning concepts are key outcomes in this course.

This course is split up into the major topics: water resources management, groundwater (well design and shallow geothermic energy), hydraulics and calculation methods of water supply networks. In the practical part of the course, 4 exercises with the topics water export, shallow geothermic energy and two from water distribution system analysis have to be accomplished in groups.

Lectures and guest lectures, interactive development of solutions for technical questions, computer-based exercise, four individual exercises to be solved in small group

The Assessment includes an oral examination at the end of the semester (load 2/3) and the delivered training programmes (load 1/3).
