It is the aim of this lecture to enable students to understand the main epistemological questions and positions in philosophy and theology and to critically examine them.

The lecture gives a contemporary introduction to the main questions and positions of epistemology and their application to Christian beliefs. The questions include: What is knowledge? What are beliefs? What are religious beliefs? What does it mean to say that a belief is true? Can religious beliefs be true? What conditions must be fulfilled in order that a belief is justified? Can religious beliefs be justified? What are the sources of knowledge? What are the epistemic sources of religion and theology? Can there be group-knowledge?
