BA § 5 (1) 6.b Political System of Austria - Introductory Level

Students know the functions and structures or relevant institutions and processes of the political system and selected policy fields. Moreover, they illustrate the most important aspects of political history of the First and Second Republic.

This course provides a general overview of the Austrian political system (historical development, constitution, institutions and processes). It has a special focus on party system dynamics, party organizations and electoral behavior.

The participants of the course will read and prepare texts that form the basis of lectures and discussions in class.
