The seminar deepens topics of the lecture on agro food studies. Students acquire by further reading and interactive group learning in depth knowledge on selected aspects of agro-food studies. They learn to apply theoretical approaches presented in the accompanying lecture on concrete case studies and current societal debates.

The seminar on agricultural and regional sociology deals with aspects of agro-food studies. The focus is on the social relations embedded into food from production to consumption (and even beyond to the issue of food waste). The seminar deepens in particular the understanding of urban-rural food relations and the emergence of civic food networks. We apply a comparative European perspective on new social movements dealing with the provision and distribution of food. Group interaction will be guided by new formats beyond the traditional paper presentation format
