The aim of this course is to get the students to be able to write texts at a very high level. We will write all kind of texts (creative, academic, journalistic, etc.) using every possible register.

We will use several kind of texts as models. Some of the items on the syllabus are:

idioms; metaphors, similes, comparisons; the language of advertising, etc. Students are welcome to suggest topics they are especially interested in.

It is a very interactive course. Students work individually but most of the corrections are discussed in the group. I try to adapt to every group and fulfill their specifical needs at the required high level of proficiency.

Throughout the course the students are required to write a number of texts -some at home, some in class-, which then will be corrected and handed back. At the end of the semester, the corrected texts must be submitted for a final evaluation. On common agreement there also can take place a test in the middle of the semester and/or a final test.

Will be offered on Olat or handed out during classes.

Due to substantial differences in the allocation of ECTS-Credits in various curricula (teacher training programs/specialized degree programs), the requirements for this course vary. Information will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the course.

It is a course where the students usually feel well because of the possibilities of participation, but the language requirements are high and it can happen that the students fail the first time.
