Das irdische Paradies: Kunst im 19. Jahrhundert“ (Translated into English as Art in the Nineteenth Century, London 1961, and as The Earthly Paradise: Art in the Nineteenth Century, New York 1961) with „Das entzweite Jahrhundert“ (The split century). But common sense considerations by the publisher about alternative denial of truths stopped his aim. 1995 he then could present his „Das entzweite Jahrhundert, 1750–1830“, Munich 1995.
