Expanded knowledge and independent application of art-historical methods on examples referred to in the lecture

Carved ivories take part of the most exclusive works of treasuries from late antiquity up to the end of medieval times. The glance of texture and the lightful coulour of ivory, as well as it‘s precious rarity and exotic provenance were most delighted. Together with the material’s uncomparable potential of minute and detailed relief it leaded to highest skills of execution. Immensly prestigious - like concular diptychs, icons, triptychs, liturgical items, book covers, reliquairies - the objects reveal their importance up to our times.
