The students are to gain a reflected interdisciplinary approach to the topic. They have also to learn the methodical application of historical-critical analyses in the dealing with medieval narratives.

In the course of Muslim History, a small circle around the prophet Muhammad in Mecca turned into a large religious community claiming to form its own society and nation, Umma.

With the development of this community, the views of its members, especially the scholars among them, developed into different context-multifaceted societal questions.

In our Lectures we will discuss various stages of the history of Muslim society from the beginning to the late Middle Ages.
