Competences in critical reflection of issues concerning the gender relations and their meanings from a historical point of view.

Analysis and critical discussion of various source materials and texts with regard to "royal alliance in the Roman Empire", especially the Julio-Claudian dynasty to the Severi. Engagement, wedding and adoption are considered as policy instruments.

Lecture, short presentation, discussion.

Regular participation, presentation, required reading and submit an essay to the end of semester.

Relevant literature will be announced during the course.
