Knowledge of central concepts of ecolinguistics and some ecolinguistic approaches; development of a critical awareness of anthropocentric formulations in texts which focus on the relationship of human beings and animals/plants.

Definition of „ecology“ and „linguistics“; history of ecolinguistics; areas of ecolinguistics: 1. language as an ecosystem; 2. language diversity and language death: big languages replace small languages; 3. speaking/writing about nature (anthropocentric discourse); 4. speaking/writing about social groups (ethnocentric and androcentric discourse).

Teacher-centred instruction, interrupted by joint analyses of relevant texts; visualization with the help of PowerPoint.
