Acquiring reading comprehension skills regarding historical documents and secondary literature on Austrian Church history and reflection skills regarding methodical questions. Acquiring knowledge of an important subarea of Austrian history. Training in teaching research results.

Presentation of representative sources for church history, common interpretation of  this and reflections on heuristic quality. Get to know the basic features of the constitution of the Old Church and her structures. Comparison with modern structures. Application of the basic concepts to selected events of Austrian church history (with focus Tyrol).

Topics will be introduced in lectures; essays and sources will be analysed in group work; and presentations will be given by seminar participants.

Seminar participants will be required to attend lectures, actively participate in discussions, do tasks individually and in groups, present one topic (and prepare a handout), and write a paper
