Content: Introduction to climate history. Methods: improved skills in handling and contextualizing primary and secondary sources; improved skills in oral and written presentations.

The climate is changing: due to natural factors, but also and increasingly under the influence of human activity. Past climate changes have also been historically significant in influencing social developments. How and under what influences has the climate changed in the past? What effects can be determined historically? How are climate change and social change related? 

Seminar discussions, exercises, oral presentations, case studies, guest lectures

Continuous assessment, regular and active participation in discussions, participation in the workshop, oral and written contributions.

To be announced in the course. 

Two climate-historical guest lectures are part of the seminar (on 28.10 and 18.11., 17.15-18.45).
