Students who have completed this course should understand, be able to report and apply the content of this lecture. They should have developed the ability to acquire similar contents on their own. Furthermore, they should have developed a basic understanding of relativistic physics.

Introduction and historical overview, measuring the speed of light, implications of finite speed of light, basic assumptions of special relativity, mathematical tools of special relativity, four vectors and their conservation properties, paradoxa, relativistic mechanics, appearance of relativistically moving objects

Lecture and related exercises

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"
