715024 UE Geophysics
winter semester 2019/2020 | Last update: 07.10.2019 | Place course on memo listAt the end of this course, students are able to:
- test geodynamic hypotheses by evaluating supporting geophysical data
- create and analyze synthetic data in order to assess the influence of different parameters on geophysical results.
- correct and apply geophysical data for solving simplified geoscientific problems
- synthesize and present in groups the geophysical perspective on a geoscientific problem
The exercises contain a.o.: correction procedures in gravimetry and magnetometry, analysis of earthquake seismograms, interpretation of geo-electric data, and conceptual geodynamic puzzles.
Group presentations about a specific geoscientific problem, with group discussion and peer evaluation.
Textbook exercises
Revisiting the geophysical data analysis used in scientific papers
Exercises to be solved with educational geophysical software
Group presentations about a specific geoscientific problem, with group discussion and peer evaluation.
Evaluation of group presentations by lecturer and fellow students.
