The aim of this lecture is to get an overview on basic mechanisms of immunity and to understand interactions between the individual immune cells and humoral components.

This lecture describes humoral and cellular components of the innate and adaptive immune systems of mammals/humans, as well as primary and secondary lymphoid organs. The function of granulocytes, antigen-presenting cells, NK cells, T and B cells, as well as their interactions are discussed. Examples of the consequences of increased/decreased immunity are given.
