- about the emergence of IO (why and how) and their main characteristics
- about the role and function of selected IO (above all International Intergovernmental Organisations (IGOs) like the EU & UNO and Nongovernmental Organisationen (NGOs) like International Red Cross, Doctors without borders, Greenpeace). They are able to distinguish those also in a comparative way.
- about the challenges of IOs in a globalized world also against the background of main theoretical concepts (global governance)
The lecture is divided in the following parts: - Overview and introduction: Reasons for the emergence of IO´s - Caracteristics and Differences of IOs (IGO´s like the EU and UNO & NGOs like the International Federation of the Red Cross, Doctors without borders or Greenpeace)
- Concepts of Global Governance with the typical fields of economic wealth, security and Freedom / Democracy. The lecture includes current political and eocnomic developments.
Blended Learning, including Online tools like the Virtual Classroom with Adobe Connect. It is intended also to let particpate external experts.
