On successful completion of this course students are able to conduct numerical stress analyses of concrete and reinforced concrete structures by using commercial finite element software and applying nonlinear material models.
Selected topics of the lecture are non-linear problems in terms of strength of materials (e.g. the calculation of the load carrying capacity of reinforced concrete frames by using finite element methods).
Students independently work on assignments using finite element programmes and are supervised by the lecturer. The results are documented and interpreted in a technical report.
