The participants gain a clear orientation about the meaning of good life in general and the own practice of good life based on scientific evidence. Therefore critical analysis of conflicting values and ways of life are inevitable.

The longing for good life is omnipresent but at the same time seems to be utopian sometimes. What is the essence of a good and really successful life? If the term is used merely individually the living together within groups, peoples and nations will fail. The western perspective on good life too often is reduced to wealth and economic growth. As we have to recognize today in the content of a finite world this approach has to end up in ecological collapse.   Within a global village there are many complex interrelations in the spheres of economy, consumerism, global climate, media, mobility etc. All that makes the question which individual claims are justifiable in a more comprehensive perspective quite urgent.
There is also a responsibility of universities as they do represent the entirety of scientific. Is there a scientific answer according to the question on good life? We want to discuss the results of research on happiness (individual level) as well as theories about sustainable life- styles and approaches to alternative models of economy and political preconditions which may allow a systemic change in society.

Presentations, personal and common reflection on differents types of live-style, simple simulation games, encounter with representatives of different initiatives.

Active, contributing participation and final paper.

Will be discussed in the first session.

For Diploma Programme in Catholic Theology: successful completion of compulsory module 1 of the first part of the studies.
