Presentation of the most important developments of philosophical discourse from early platonism to the reception of the philosophy of Aristotle, the influence of byzantine, jewish and arabic thought and to the gradual elaboration of subjectivity, autonomy and experimental science. Besides the notoriously famous and acknowledged figures of the age like Anselm, Hildegard of Bingen, Bonaventure, Thomas, Scotus, Ockham, Nicolaus of Cusa or Avicenna, Averroes and Maimonides, some of the less known persons like Roger Bacon, John Peckham, Marsilius of Padua, Christine de Pizan and others will be put in focus.
