Students have knowledge and understanding in a special area of German linguistics and are able to work scientifically and autonomously on a specific topic in this field.

The pro-seminar will focus on the linguistic discipline of sociolinguistics with a special emphasis on multilingualism in society. The first introductory lessons provide the theoretical background and present typical socialinguistic methods necessary to investigate an individual research question in view of multilingualism in society constituting the second part of the course.
