To deal with literary texts reflecting on the methodology and to develop a well-founded understanding of literary texts using meaningful examples

The seminar focuses on the prose writings of Hugo von Hofmannsthal (1874-1929). Analyzing aesthetical, rhetorical and narrative structures of some exemplary texts written by this author, we will gain a historical and systencial knowledge of Literary Modernism in Germany and Austria between the Fin de Siècle and the 1920s.
