To deal with literary texts reflecting on the methodology and to develop a well-founded understanding of literary texts using meaningful examples

Based on centrally-canonized texts from the history of 19th-century literature, which are reviewed in terms of epochal characteristics, we read in addition and contrasting works by Caroline Pichler, Betty Paoli, Ida Pfeiffer, Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach, Bertha von Suttner, Minna Kautsky and Ada Christians.
