After completing this lecture students will be able to:

• define the term microbiology and to name and differ between distinct groups of mircoorganisms
• explain biological occurence, morphology and behavior of mircoorganisms
• explain fundamental aspects of hygiene, immunology and infections.
  
  

Fundamental knowledge of microbiology as well as basic systematics of pathogens (bacteria, fungi, virus, proteozoa, prions); pathogenesis of infectious diseases including host-pathogen interactions;

Strategies to prevent or impede infectious diseases (cleaning, disinfection, sterilization) with specific examples for medical training therapy; general and personal hygiene;
